Thousands of Americans died to bring you this Italian baseball commercial.

Thousands of Brits, too. This is an ad for the upcoming Baseball World Cup in Nettuno, Italy. Back on January 22nd, 1944, Allied troops stormed the beaches of Nettuno/Anzio starting what is considered one of the biggest operational mistakes of WWII. But the invading Americans taught the locals baseball! So, Italian ad agency Link came up with this, uh, "men-in-uniform" parody of the day's deadly doings. Make sure you watch it all the way to the end for the dramatic burning bat kicker. Btw, the Americans won the last World Cup in 2007, halting Cuba's winning streak at nine (via Ypsilon2). Previously in baseball ads: A-Rod's Got Milk...and Primobolan. Johnnie Walker: official sports drink of the drunken Yankees. Bud Light not nearly strong enough of a drink for watching Mets games. related: Moises Alou pees on his hands.

Unfuckingbelievable! Yeah, let's trivialize war and human sacrifice. Why not do a nostalgia thing showing troops teaching the kids baseball? Infinitely more tasteful.
