All kinds of fetishes shoehorned into sleazy shoe ad.

(click ad) Previously, we've seen men's dress shoes as phallic symbols. This baby, however, takes the fetishization of Asian women to a super-American Apparel level. Though as the Sensualista says: it's "a piss poor example of the art of rope." The details: the ad, via Switzerland, is for Max shoes (made in China?), a worldwide chain of inexpensive footwear shops. It's by German agency Jung von Matt. And it just may be the most sexist ad I've ever posted, though the competition is strong (image via Hypotemuse, thanks to Tess for the tip).
Related: Jimmy Choo. Shoes to die for.

Thank you for posting this (and thank you Tess for passing the word!). Just wanted to add: the campaign is by Jung von Matt's Swiss branch (checked on their website). The Swiss aren't known for being overly politically correct, but this takes the biscuit. Although outrageously offensive, to me it insults the intelligence rather than the sensibilities.

Criss-Crossed Cultural Ties Still Binding???

Foot binding was a custom practiced on young girls and women for approximately one thousand years in China, beginning in the 10th century and ending in the early 20th century.

The custom is commonly cited by sociologists and anthropologists as an example of how an extreme deformity by contemporary western standards could be viewed as a source of pleasure in other cultures and of how immense suffering can be inflicted on women and girls in the pursuit of so-called beauty.

This reminds me of some asian weird shoe ad with women draped across the shoe, but now I can't recall what brand that was for at all.

That must be either a very big shoe or a very small person.

Travis, I think that it's actually pointing to fetishistic use of rope bondage, not foot binding. Some douche creative is wrapping their Asian, rope and shoe fetish all into one superlame ad.

@ Pot Thought

Agreed, and on second thought, the kimono clad model would suggest Japanese rather than Chinese.

Kudos then to the 'douche creative' for showing restraint by not adding 'bukkake' into the convoluted fetishistic mix.

@ mrjohn

your 1st link led to a 'Home Taping is Killing Music... and it's Illegal' message.

your 2nd link led to a video and I'm assuming you singing to your own composition... smooth vocals and guitar playing.

Did a 'mr john' Google search and along with:
- mr john portable toilets
- mr john limousine
- mr john the American milliner
there was a Mr. John Frusciante of 'Red Hot Chili Peppers' fame.

Tell us more about yourself 'Dear John'.
