New Anti-Abortion Billboard Exploits Obama.

(click image, via) Life Always, the same anti-choice group that erected this ghastly billboard last month in New York City, is putting up this board today on State Street in Chicago. The group says they plan to put the board up in 30+ locations. It'll be interesting to see if our Pro-Choice President responds—legally or otherwise—to this illicit Bam Branding.

To paraphrase George Carlin, these groups want to save all the embryos so when they grow up to be abortion doctors and nurses THEN they can kill them by blowing up the clinics.....

What's the problem with this ad? It's honest. If you really believe that aborted children are unwanted, contact an adoption agency. There are millions of people trying to adopt children.

How much would it cost to rent a billboard right next to it that says, "SO IS THE NEXT JACK THE RIPPER"?

What if you replaced "leader" with "rapist" or "murderer" or "thief"? I'm not posting pro or anti. I'm just saying there are two sides to everything.

That's such an old argument! Meanwhile the pro-choicers are erecting a billboard that says 'The next possible Hitler is aborted'

Here's the thing about this ad. Most of the people opposed to abortion also hate Obama. So who, precisely, is this ad supposed to be targeting?

I mean, won't it make anti-abortion wingnuts start to think that maybe supporting free, safe abortions is actually kind of a good idea?

The biggest problem with this and that other horrifying billboard is that it makes it seem like white anti-abortion groups actually care about the fate of black people.

Really these billboards only serve three purposes:

1) Shock value

2) Shaming and dehumanizing black mothers as a group. (Most dangerous place is in the womb? Please. There are so many places in the U.S. that are dangerous for ppl of color.)

3) Setting up the false paradigm that anyone who is for a woman's right to choose is racist because, according to these billboards, they then support killing black babies by default.

What these groups never want to talk about is the way that this same racism they want to level at other people contributes to the higher rate of abortions. Racism in the united states limits access to quality healthcare across the entirety of someone's lifespan in general if they're poor. Women, and especially women of color, are usually at the bottom of the poverty pileup.

That's why there are likely to be planned parenthoods in low income neighborhoods. Because they provide a lot of basic wellness care. Not because they're offering free toaster ovens with your third abortion.

Here's a link to the Guttmacher Institute's review of what this group is up to:

Elon James from this week in blackness asking abortion groups to leave black people out of their quest for control.

And that's all I have to say about that now.
