"Black Panthers" used to sell toilet cleaning gloves.

(click ad, via) For you youngsters, this ad for Limppano cleaning gloves is riffing off of this historic protest photo from the 1968 Mexico City Olympics. (It appears the layout includes part of the actual photo.) The ad is of course playing loose with the truth: Tommie Smith and John Carlos were not members of the Black Panther Party, they were just showing support for the Black Power movement. I'm sure Smith will be thrilled to discover he's now being used to sell latex gloves to Brazilians. What a stupid, horribly contrived ad.
Ad agency: Giovanni + DraftFCB, Rio. Previously in: racism in advertising.

I don't think people actually stick their hands in a toilet to clean it.
