The shortest ever YouTube ad (one second).

(via) Nice use of the medium. And you sure can't beat that production budget. Hint: HIT PAUSE. Ad agency: McCann Erickson, Tel Aviv, Israel. Previously in smart YouTube ads: Tipp-Ex whiteoutOxFam global warming.

Yes, it's the shortest ever ad (not just youtube ad), and that's the problem. How many people do you think would have the patience to keep playing it over and over again to get the message?

Enough to make it more effective than most ads (try the pause button).

I couldn't catch it and kept getting endlessly looping status wheel when I tried to play/pause/replay in rapid succession. Eventually I gave up & still have no idea what it says.

Clever idea, but I think if they would've made it an extra second or two longer, they could've gotten the same effect without shooting themselves in the foot.

With the pause button Seems kinda pointless, and without it it's just stupid.

This is a great point! I tried to watch it only twice before I realized that I could just press pause, which is not hard to figure out at all, however people with OCD can't press pause for their whole life. Very smart!

Did you read the message on the ad or not? If you did, it worked. Or you could just lie.

i fail this ad because they do not follow the 'be able to read it twice' rule.

I-)

The first read was impactful enough to compensate. Mmmk?

Shut up, Ranter. Reread all the negative comments. It does NOT work. Like someone else said, what's the point in hitting pause to read the message?? This is not what the agency wants you to do. If you do that, the ad loses its appeal.

I came back to give this another chance.

Still can't get it to pause, and it always goes into endless loading loop after pressing play/replay a few times. I still have no idea what it says.

I hate this ad. If I ever do find out what it promotes, I will reject that thing out of spite.

I've had no problem pausing it. Don't worry, it's an ad for dildos.

what was the name of the brand? How many of you remember that?

What's the link for those dildos?

I thought the ad was brilliant and effective. And frankly, if it takes you more than three or four plays to read and comprehend the whole message, then English is not your first language. I'm amazed at some of the comments here. Who knew that mouth breathers who have... to... read... every... word... aloud... are copyranter fans!

Fuck you, J. Addis. It's clear you work for the agency that did this.

I had no problem pausing the video. If you are having trouble just let the whole video play then drag back the circle thing (what is it called?) and then pause once you see text. It is a very powerful ad that is creatively executed.

The point of the ad is to get you to repeatedly press play until you press pause to read it. Similar to the way a person with OCD repeats a simple task, except that they have a much harder time "pressing pause" in their daily life.

Loved it, copyranter, don't mind about that boring twat Anonymous!

It´s an ingenious way to "show and tell" what OCD really is all about, and I certainly had no problems in pausing it...
